What We Believe

We Believe

We believe that God is living, active and dynamic – eternally sovereign and intimately present, Father, Son and Spirit.

We believe that in Jesus Christ, God has acted decisively to reconcile a sinful world to himself.

We believe that all who come to him in faith, hungry and thirsty for his righteousness, will be filled: filled with his saving love, and filled with his living Spirit by which he makes us witnesses.

We believe that all things exist for God’s glory, and that in the fullness of time his glory will be manifest on earth as it is in heaven. Until that time, we watch and pray, living in hope, displaying Christ’s love in word and deed, inviting all to know and trust him and so become a part of his body, the Church.

Purpose Statement

The Oak Hills purpose statement guides all aspects of our ministry.

To be gathered by the Spirit as a community of faith, to grow into the likeness of Christ, and to glorify God every day in all we do.”

Core Values

As we live out our calling, we do so in accordance with eight core values. We believe these values reflect God’s own wisdom for every human person. We rejoice in the call to live them out together as the body of Christ.

We welcome you – whoever you are – alongside us in the journey.

  • Scripture

We will seek to pattern our actions and attitudes after Jesus Christ and biblical values. (2 Tim. 3:16-17; Heb. 4:12)

  • Prayer

We will root our life together in the practice of prayer, knowing that God is present and able. (1 Thess.5:16-18; Eph. 6:18; Rom. 12:12)

  • Mission

We will reach out to our neighbors, locally and globally, offering living proof of a loving God through our actions and words. (Matt 28:18-20; 1 Pet. 2:9-10; Heb. 13:16)

  • Empathy

We will share one another’s joys and pain; throughout our church family, our community, and in the world. (John 15:12; Gal. 6:2; Eph. 4:32)

  • Hospitality

We will welcome those who walk through our doors and treat them as family. (I Pet 4:8-10; rom. 12:13; Gen 18:1-8)

  • Generosity

Together we will give of our abilities, time and resources, and we will welcome the gifts of others with gratitude (1 Pet. 4:10-11; Prov. 22:9)

  • Wholeness

We will hear, understand and respect those with whom we disagree. When relationships are broken, we will actively seek reconciliation. (Rom 15:5-7; Col. 3:12-14: Matt 18:15-20)

  • Sabbath

We will practice God’s rhythm of work and rest, doing and being, seeking balanced lives. (Ex. 20:8-11; Mark 2:27-28)
