Pastoral Search

Since 1964, Oak Hills Presbyterian Church has been a beacon for Christ on top of Thiessen Hill.

STATUS: MDP Complete, Currently Interviewing

Who we are

Oak Hills is a church that believes in the Word of God and the power of community. Our mission is to Gather, Grow, and Glorify, and we strive to share Christ’s love both in the church and into our local community. Our members come from diverse backgrounds, but we feel united in our common faith through the Spirit.

Who we seek

Oak Hills is seeking a Senior Pastor (Head of Staff) who will join us in our current ministries and lead us into new endeavors. We are seeking a pastor who can provide the type of leadership every church needs – someone who is adept in planning and administration, encouragement, mentoring, teaching, and leading. Our church, much like our community, values a genuine and empathetic spirit. We seek a pastor who not only leads and teaches Bible-based Truth, but who will also enjoy the benefits of our community, as we do life together, united by the Spirit.

Pastoral Nominating Committee (PNC)

The PNC is a group elected by the congregation to represent Oak Hills in the search for a new pastor.

Jim is a retired engineer who has attended Oak Hills since 1980. He has served the church as elder, treasurer, and a choir member.

Hank has been a member of Oak Hills for 26 years. He has served multiple sessions as the Building and Grounds Elder. Hank was heavily involved in pursuing a new church sanctuary and currently serves as the Charter Organization Representative for the scouting program at Oak Hills.

Michelle and her husband have lived in the Oak Grove community for over 40 years and became members of Oak Hills more than 12 years ago. Michelle is an elementary school teacher and takes great joy being involved in different ministries at Oak Hills.

Valerie, elder and former music director, was with Mt. Scott Park Presbyterian Church for 32 years until their merger with Oak Hills last fall. She sings in the choir and lives with her husband, adult son, three dogs, three cats, a ball python, and a fish.

Sylvia and her husband moved from Columbus, OH (go Buckeyes!) to Portland in 2015. Soon after, missionary friends invited them to a service at Oak Hills where they found a good fit community. They became members and have served on a number of mission teams.

Emily moved to Oregon with her husband and three girls in 2021. She has been attending Oak Hills since 2023. She enjoys working at South Shore Preschool part time, and volunteering in the Nursery on Sunday mornings. In her free time, though it's hard to find, she enjoys reading, taking long walks, and staying busy with her girls.

Jared and his wife moved to Oak Grove in 2017. They soon began attending Oak Hills where they found a loving community. He has two pre-school daughters who keep him active and love to wrestle. He is an electrical engineer who enjoys all nerdy hobbies.
